AYURVEDIC

Ayurveda is an Indian health practice thought to be more than 5000 years old. It consists of a number of disciplines, including aromatherapy, diet, herbal medicine, acupuncture, yoga, massage, meditation and balancing of energies. The word "ayurveda" is translated from Sanskrit to mean "the science of life".

    • Ayurveda proponents believe earth, water, fire, air and space make up the universe. Chyle (a fluid composed of lymph and emulsified fats), blood, flesh, fat, bone, marrow and semen are believed to be the body's primary elements. Many traditional practitioners believe semen is the most precious and should be preserved through celibacy.
  • Ayurvedic practitioners use the terms "vata", "pitta" and "kapha" to describe your body type and determine a course of treatment. Vata types are said to be thin and bony with restless minds; pitta have a moderate physique with muscular limbs and an alert mind; and kapha have broad frames, long limbs and are calm and patient.

YOGA

Yoga is a practical aid, not a religion. Yoga is an ancient art based on a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind, and spirit. The continued practice of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with your environment. This is a simple definition.

Yoga gurus from India later introduced yoga to the west, following the success of Swami Vivekananda in the late 19th and early 20th century. In the 1980s, yoga became popular as a system of physical exercise across the Western world. Yoga in Indian traditions, however, is more than physical exercise; it has a meditative and spiritual core. One of the six major orthodox schools of Hinduism is also called Yoga, which has its own epistemology and metaphysics, and is closely related to Hindu Samkhya philosophy. More information click here

MEDITATION

Meditation is a word that has come to be used loosely and inaccurately in the modern world. That is why there is so much confusion about how to practice it. Some people use the word meditate when they mean thinking or contemplating; others use it to refer to daydreaming or fantasizing.

Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth. More information click here
